Aileen Wurnos made a living as a sex worker. Her and her partner decided one day for her to become a prostitue so they would have more money coming in. One day she got picked up by a guy named Richard Mallory. Her plans were to start killing the men and robbing them to take their money. She killed Richard Mallory one day, and then was on to kill 6 other men. All of the crimes were starting to seem way to similiar, so the police started to really investigate. They got fingerprints off of bodies, and once they identified who they thought it was. They went to pawn shops around where all the killings were, and there had been pawns from Aileen Wuornos and Tyria Moore with items belonging to Richard Mallory and other men that she had killed. On January 8, Mike Joyner and Dick Martin spotted her at the Port Orange Pub. Port Orange police entered suddenly and took Wuornos outside to talk to her. Aileen was then arrested, but they still had no weapons or no Tyria Moore. On January 10, Tyria was located at her sister's house in Pennsylvania. Tyria did know that she had killed Richard Mallory, but she had no idea she was killing other men too. Tyria told her after she killed Richard that she did not want to hear about anything she did. Tyria says she was scared to tell the police, and that Aileen would always tell her she wouldn't hurt her but you couldn't believe anything she would say. Tyria went to Florida and was told by the police to have conversations with her and that all of their conversations would be taped. They were hoping she would confess. As the days went on, Aillen told Tyria "Just go ahead and let them know what you need to know. What they want to know or anything," she said, "and I will cover for you, because you're innocent. I'm not going to let you go to jail. Listen, if I have to confess, I will." And on the morning of January 16, she confessed. She tells the police that all of the killings were done from self defense, that all of the guys were trying to rape her and she had had enough. She told them that she didn't care if they hang her she just wants to get it over with. Wuornos's
