Dick Humphreys
Dick Humphreys never made it home from his last day of work at the Sumterville office of the Florida's Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. He was a protective investigator specializing in abused and injured children. He was about to transfer to the Department's Ocala office. He was 56 years old, and previously, he'd been a police chief in Alabama. He celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary on September 10; on September 11, he disappeared. His body was found in Marion County on the evening of September 12. Hee had been shot seven times. Six .22 caliber slugs were recovered from his body; the seventh slug went through his wrist and was never found. His car was foundlater in September in Suwanee County. Dick Humphrys death was identified to be in September of 1990.
